Knee and Wake boarding

Knee and wake boarding is a relatively new addition to the water sports scene in Goa. Water sports are the primary recreation in the beach resorts of Goa that are visited by numerous tourists from all parts of the globe. Thanks to the popularity of these water sports, as well as the cuisine and breathtaking scenic beauty offered by the beaches of Goa, tourism has prospered in this tiny Indian state. Knee and wake boarding is particularly popular among the younger and athletic tourists as it requires balance and agility.

The sport of knee and wake boarding is very similar to water skiing. However, the difference lies in that instead of two narrow strips of water skiing, there is only one broad board, upon which the person wake boarding has to balance himself. There are slots for the knees in the board, and the boarder has to kneel and set himself in position. In this way, it requires less balancing skills than water skiing, but a little more agility. The board is drawn by speed boats at varying speeds depending upon the expertise of the boarder. It is an entertaining sport that tests the balancing skills of the boarder, and its great fun wake boarding around the popular beaches in Goa. One must be an able water skier to try wake boarding. Its always safer and better to have an instructor or observer on the boat.

Almost all the major beaches offer facilities for knee and wake boarding. Candolim, Mobor and Rajbaga are currently leading the pack as far as knee and wake boarding is concerned. The other beaches are also catching up fast on the popularity of this entertaining sport in Goa.

The other popular water sports in Goa include water skiing, speed boating, scuba diving, Para sailing, dinghy sailing, and deep sea fishing. Do not miss out on these exciting and fun filled activities during your vacations in Goa.
