Located around 6 kms from Margao City, it is situated at a distance of 40 kms from the capital city of Goa, Panaji or Panjim. The distance between the Colva beach and another popular beach, Benaulim beach is just 2 kms. One of the most explored beaches of the southern part of Goa, Colva beach is an extremely beautiful one, however, it with less of tourist activity. During the rule of Portuguese rule, the beach was called Praia da Colvá and was the property of Roiz family. Church of Lady of Mercy- One can visit The Church of Lady of Mercy, housing a fantastic statue of Menino Jesuse. The church was erected during the 17th century and plays host to ‘Fama of Menino Jesuse’, the annual religious festival.
Colva Village- If you want then you can also explore the nearby Colva village, which is a fishermen’s village.
The Church of St John the Baptist- Located just 2 kms away from the beach; it was founded by the Jesuits in Colva in the year 1581.
Bull fight- A major attraction, bull fight takes 4 PM onwards in the rice fields between the months of October and May. The Konkani music makes the atmosphere even livelier.
Benaulim beach- Do not miss, visiting the pure Benaulim beach, near Colva beach.
Some of the other attractions include Cabo de Rama and Buddhist caves or Rivona. There other buildings of religious importance are Shree Damodar Temple, Shree Chandranath Temple, and more.
