Bogmalo Beach is a fabulous place, situated nearby the Port City of Vasco, wherein swaying palms, glistening sands, cool wind and a perfect environment for pampering yourself with calmness and relaxation. Naval Aviation Museum - The Naval Aviation Museum was established on 12th October, 1998 and exhibits various warbirds that are known to have served Goa. This museum has been segregated into 2 zones- Indoor galleries and outdoor galleries. It puts on display Sea Harrier, Sealand, Hughes, Vampire Dove, Alize and Vintage Naval Aircrafts. The museum also features an archive section, with a photo gallery displaying the old pictures.
Majorda Village - Towards the southern portion of Goa is a small village, with a distance of 9.3 kilometers from Bogmalo, called Majorda Village. It is touted as the place where Jesuits discovered the best toddy in Goa. A huge church, built around 1588, is the main attraction of this village. As per local beliefs, the church's cornerstone was laid on 5th May, 1588. There used to be a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Great Mother, also known as Mamay. Hence, Majorda celebrates two feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary known as Boa Morte and Mother of God. The famous Chapel of Our Lady of Piety, built in 1691, is also a part of this village.
Chicalim Village- The Chicalim Village is just 5.2 kilometers away from Bogmalo village in Mormugao. It is quite popular for St. Bartholomew Church, built in the year 1625. The festivity of St. Francis Xavier and Mary Immaculate are the main attractions of this church. Furthermore, tourists can also visit the famous Shri Sateri Devasthan temple in this village.
Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Bogmalo - Around 15.8 kilometers from Bogmalo, the famous Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, named after Dr. Salim Ali, an eminent & well-known Ornithologist, exhibits the trounced Old Portuguese churches and villas. Spanned across 1.8 square kilometers, the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary houses numerous species of Indian and migratory birds. Other animals housed within this sanctuary include Jackals and Crocodile.
